What’s Happening

Fulham Social Hub

Our urban village was pretty quiet last month so Fulham Social Hub’s next event on Weds 17 September sounds like a great way to reconnect with our community after the summer months. We know we’re biased with our Ed - Melinda - being one of the founders but don’t miss out.

Meet other locals, make new connections, or gather a group of friends for a fun night out in the Thames Bar, a stunning new space at Fulham Pier. This event is open to everyone so there’s with no reason required for attending, other than having a great time and meeting more Fulhamites. If you need a reason here’s a few - you’d like to play a larger part in our community but don’t know how, you’re looking to become a volunteer, would like to expand your network on your home turf, or simply connect with like-minded SW6 individuals in a relaxed atmosphere; whilst enjoying some delicious canapes and perhaps a spot of shopping.

Again we know we’re biased but the last Fulham Social Hub event in April was lots of fun, bringing together local organisations, residents and business owners at Craven Cottage, whilst raising funds for Fulham FC Foundation. Guests enjoyed meeting new Fulham people, artists, the faces behind local businesses, community champions and more but don’t take our word for it - here’s what some of the guests said.

“There was a wonderful supportive atmosphere and I had some great chats with lovely people, a couple of them being potentially very useful!” - Caroline.

“I just wanted to say a heartfelt thank you to both you and Zara for such a warm and welcoming evening with Fulham Social Hub on Thursday. It was a real pleasure meeting you both in person and experiencing the wonderful community spirit you've created - it truly is something special. It really was a memorable evening, and I'm so glad I was able to be a part of it” - Jane. Book tickets and find out more information on the link below. See you there!

Freak Scene x 100 Wardour Street

We’ve always enjoyed talking to Australian chef Scott Hallsworth, owner of Freak Scene in Parsons Green. If you haven’t tried this incredible punk Asian deliciousness yet we highly recommend you do, especially on Tight Ass Tuesday’s where you can sample lots of different thing from the menu without having to think about it! However if you fancy stepping out of the hood, Scott has taken his cult dining concept back to it’s Soho roots where an exclusive Freak Scene pop-up residency is open at 100 Wardour Street until November.

The 100 Wardour Street pop-up will feature a curated menu of Freak Scene favourites, including chili crab wonton bombs, miso-grilled hispi cabbage, and red curry duck donutbuns running alongside new dishes. Scott first made his name leading kitchens at Nobu London and Nobu Melbourne, before launching the critically acclaimed Kurobuta with three locations in Chelsea, Knightsbridge and Marble Arch respectively. His bold, expressive culinary skills blend Japanese izakaya culture with Aussie cheekiness.

Scott told Urban Village LDN “This is possibly the most exciting news I’ve been able to share since founding Freak Scene all those years ago. Not only are we heading back to our Soho roots, but we get to team up with the brilliant Evolv Collection at their iconic 100 Wardour Street”. To find out more and book a table hit the link below.

Sleep out / Save the Date

On Friday 3 October over a hundred sleepers are expected to join Glass Door Homeless Charity’s 13th annual Sleep Out. The charity, based here in Fulham, is marking its 25th anniversary and hopes to raise £120,000 from the Sleep Out, funding services that help people to build a route out of homelessness. Participants can take part in-person at the Duke of York Square, Chelsea, or remotely from anywhere in the world.

Glass Door got in touch with Urban Village LDN as they’re looking for volunteers and wanted to spread the word about this event. Latest data shows that outreach teams in London recorded more than 13,000 people sleeping rough over a one-year timespan, a far higher number than ever recorded previously. * In total, more than 1 out of every 50 Londoners are experiencing homelessness, and these figures show signs of continuing to grow.

If you’d like to take part in Sleep Out 2025 you can register on the link below or you can make a donation here https://www.glassdoor.org.uk/donate £23 can pay for two personalised sessions with an expert caseworker, £35 can give someone a safe place to sleep for the night, a hot evening meal and breakfast the next morning, while £59 could provide 20 people with a hot evening meal and breakfast.
