Fulham Social Hub wine tasting in support of Ray’s
Join Fulham residents, local businesses and community organisations for a fun and casual wine tasting in support of Ray’s Playhouse; a charity funded early years children's centre in Fulham.
Hosted by The Winery on the Fulham Road you’re invited to come along on Thurs Dec 3rd between 5-8pm to sample classics, house champagne and new arrivals with other Fulham locals. Tickets cost just £5 and all the proceeds (minus Eventbrite fees) will go to support Ray’s Playhouse and the refurbishment of their outdoor sandpit area.
There are no formal proceedings just come along at a time that suits you, pick up a list of the wines that you’ll be tasting that evening and start sipping. It’s an informal opportunity for locals to connect and network, meet new people and get to know their neighbours. Bring along friends and other colleagues for a fun night out whilst supporting a community asset that relies on donations to keep providing such a vital role in our neighbourhood. There will also be a raffle to raise funds for Ray’s with some incredible prizes so you could potentially get a very good return for a £5 spend!
Ray’s Playhouse is a charity funded early years children’s centre, providing daily inclusive stay and play sessions for parents and careers with children under 5 years old. The charity was set up in January 2011 to save the Sands End Playhouse which had been operating in Fulham for over thirty years and relies on donations from individuals, trusts, corporate givers and foundations. The playhouse located in William Parnell Park (known to Fulhamites as Pineapple Park) is a lasting legacy to Ray Bender who was born and raised in Fulham.
Bella’s Breakfast Baps
We’ve always been huge fans of the Sands End Arts & Community Centre (SEACC) and it’s been great watching the centre develop from building site to a space providing so many wonderful opportunities for locals, from disability discos to simply being a cosy post dog walk coffee spot.
Now weekend breakfasts have arrived at The Walnut Tree Café & Bar. Bella and her team will be serving breakfast baps every Saturday and Sunday from 9am - 1pm. If you’re heading South Park way for a coffee, or you’re meeting there to catch up with friends pop in to the café and give their new offer a try.
You can choose from egg, sausage, bacon or a vegan avocado and mushroom bap, freshly prepared at a cost of just £6.50.. There’s even a Gluten Free bun option!
Stubby’s Book Club
Since first meeting the team at Stubby’s they were always super keen to be part of the local community and a venue that serves up “good stuff all day”. This month they’re hosting their very first book club and it’s already sold out. Billed as nothing fancy or intimating the Stubby’s Book Club is something they wanted to run to bring the community together as the weather gets colder and the winter evenings set in.
The first book up for discussion in November is “I want to be Happy for You” by Jem Calder. Stay tuned for upcoming dates and the next book reveal on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/stubbyslondon
FYI you don’t have to have read the whole book cover to cover, just a few pages will suffice if you’d like to join in and you’re guaranteed to have a fabulous drink in hand which they’ll theme for each event. Non alcoholic options available. You can come alone or bring a friend - unwind with a good drink whilst taking part in some good book conversation and meeting new people.
